Thank God for backups. The problem comes when I try to unlock the drive after a restart. I've never had to fully decrypt a hard-drive to get it to ever work. UEFI is not a requirement whatsoever. Hi, The recovery key is used for repairing the data that you have encrypted. You would have to format the drive, install Windows 10.
